Should Weddings Be Timeless?

Should weddings be timeless?

Recently I’ve had discussions with one of my photographer friends about what it means to having a “timeless wedding.” She got married recently herself and after photographing countless weddings, she wasn’t sure which way to go with her colors.

Her thoughts stopped me in my tracks: your wedding is not timeless. It is literally a very particular time and space that you hopefully will remember forever.  You don’t want it to be everyone else’s idea of timeless, you want it to remind you of exactly who you two are on your start date.

Obviously your wedding colors are a matter of personal preference and style. When it comes to choosing, it’s kind of like picking out your outfit for the big day – it’s all about what makes you feel confident and comfortable. Just like how some people feel like a million bucks in a tuxedo or a ballgown, some couples might feel like an organic and simple white and greenery wedding is their perfect match. But if you’re someone who likes to mix things up and add a little pizzazz, go ahead and throw some hot pink or electric orange into the mix!

Of course, there are some things to consider when picking out your wedding colors, like the season, the venue, and your personal style. But at the end of the day, it’s your wedding, so you do you, boo! As long as you’re surrounded by the people you love and you’re having a good time, your wedding will be a success no matter what color scheme you choose. And who knows, maybe you’ll start a new trend and green and white with a splash of neon will become the hottest color combo of the year!

“At the end of the day, it’s your wedding, so you do you, boo!”

Ultimately, the decision should be based on what you and your partner envision for your special day. Consider your wedding venue, the season, your personal style, and your overall wedding theme when deciding on your color scheme. It’s your wedding day, and you should choose colors that make you feel happy and reflect your personality.

If you’re drawn to bold and bright colors, don’t be afraid to incorporate them into your wedding. On the other hand, if you prefer more subdued or neutral colors, you can still create a beautiful and elegant wedding with those colors.  In the end every wedding will look dated in some way or other eventually.  Remember aqua net bangs and poufy sleeves?  All the timeless rave at some point in time.

Overall, the key is to choose a wedding color scheme that makes you and your partner happy and reflects your personal style and preferences. Whether you choose a classic green and white palette or something more colorful, your wedding day should be a celebration of your love and commitment to each other.

XOXO, Susanne
